"Design Matters" Moving to TV

The taping of the pilot for Design Matters TV show with Debbie Millman (left) and directed by Hillman Curtis will take place on Friday, December 11, 2009. Design Matters has been a popular podcast for several years.

The TV show is conceived as a design version of “Inside the Actor’s Studio,” and Millman’s first two interview subjects will be Milton Glaser (the designer who created the “I "heart" NY” logo) and Stefan Sagmeister (the only graphic designer to have won a Grammy award and a design award from the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum). After each interview, an audience Q&A will take place.

The pilot taping will take place at the School of Visual Arts Theater in New York City and is free and open to the public—seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The original Design Matters with Debbie Millman (right) is an internet talk radio show with weekly guests live every Friday from 3-4pm EST that has been online since 2005. The show combines a point of view about graphic design, branding and cultural anthropology. In a business world dependent on change, design is one of the few differentiators left.

Design Matters has over 150,000 listeners. They were also voted a “favorite podcast” on IF’s Marketing Podcast survey at www.if.psfk.com, and the show is available as Podcasts on iTunes, where over 45,000 people download the show every month.
