SVA Graduates First Class of Interaction Designers (IxD)

OPEN IxD, the MFA Interaction Design Festival at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), is a celebration of the work from the first group of graduating interaction design students who presented their thesis explorations on stage at the Visual Arts Theater in New York City on May 5, 2011.

The 17 graduating students did 7 minute presentations to an audience inside the theater as well as almost 200 very active participants watching through LiveStream on line. There are also Twitter and Facebook connections for the event. Outside the auditorium there were prototypes on display for people to try out.

The opening keynote was provided by Scott McCloud, author of "Understanding Comics" (unfortunately only available to on-site participants). Other speakers included Liz Danzico (chair of the MFA in Interaction Design program), Paul Pangaro, Jennifer Bove, and Marc Rettig.
